Isn't it wonderful that you can use almost all features of Smacklet without having to login. That makes one less password to remember!

You can start using Smacklet right from its homepage, get reminders every 30 minutes and increase your productivity. All your posts are stored even if you close your browser window until you clear your cache.
Ivan Sutherland in his essay, Technology and Courage, describes how deadlines offer external encouragement in getting work done on time. He uses the word - "charette"; to refer to the final, intensive effort to finish a project before a deadline".

All of us are familiar with the frantic activity that precedes a project delivery, a wedding, a trip, a test etc and now we have a name for it :). If we look around us, we would notice that some people work only en charette i.e. when given a deadline. When working alone we have to be on time to save our reputation. When in collaboration we tend to be on time partly due to peer pressure and partly to avoid any embarrassments at the hands of others. We would agree that charette comes into play in most of the projects because somewhere during the project we lose the sight of the deadline.

Smacklet provides deadlines. It gives a reminder every half an hour to self review the work we have been doing. These reminders serve as mental deadlines and keep us focused. By the end of the day we realize we have done a good deal of work. We no longer wonder where the day went since everything is documented in our own words. We know with our star ratings what part of the day we had been most productive. Hopefully with these daily deadlines we would have less distance to travel when en charette.
I spend most of my time using computer both at work and at home. Some days are productive when I get a lot of work done but others just slip through. Smacklet was created to retrieve the lost time by increasing my consciousness.

How It Works:
Smacklet encourages you to set goal for every hour. It then gently reminds you, at regular intervals, to work towards your goal. This makes you in charge of your time and you feel more responsible for your actions.

Star Rewards:
All Smacklet notes have five associated stars. Use these to reward yourself on the goal after its completion.

More:
We are currently working on creating productivity charts/graphs. We are also implementing feature to personalize reminder interval.
Done:
1. Made timestamps better
2. Grouped notes by date
3. Added reminders
4. Added star rating. [Not complete yet]
We added the following features:
1. Cleaner timestamps
2. 'Delete' link for notes
3. Area for sharing Productivity Tips between us
4. Blog ( which is what you are reading now :-) )
You now easily can keep track of what is new with Smacklet.
